Originally Mid-Continent International Airport, Kansas City International Airport was first built in 1951 as an Industrial airport after the Great Flood destroyed facilities at Fairfax Airport.
More than 10M people travelled to and from Kansas City International Airport in 2012. The airport has been ranking for a long time in the top five airports in North America Airport Satisfaction Study and it’s also well known because of beating records of wildlife or bird strikes in the last 5 years.

I’ve traveled far and wide. By far, the Kansas City airport is one of the easiest to get in and out of. One can be dropped off at the departure gate, walk 50 feet, deposit bags and then walk 100 feet to the departure gate. At most, it takes eight minutes to wait in line for security check. Down side is not many vendors and the "romance" of incoming and outgoing people from all parts of the world. This, however, is over shadowed by the ease by which one can travel through all facets of the airport. Security people, ticket people and gate agents have the true Midwest friendliness on their faces and tone of voice.
I thought the airport its self was ok, but there are barely any places to eat in the airport. There are some places to buy candy and snacks but there are no substantial food options.
