Barking Sands Airport Reviews (1)
Well, I’m only a student pilot, but I flew in to Barking Sands yesterday while working as a civilian flight paramedic. The threshold to the runway is literally right on the sands of the beach. Expect a US Navy Crash-Rescue truck to meet you on arrival – I understand from my company that they are always awaiting arrivals there. Also, expect unusual activity at night – like people operating in the trees with night vision scopes and very large rifles, etc. There will be small red lights moving around the field at all odd hours of the night. The pseudo-FBO is inside the base of the tower. Be prepared to see interesting military aircraft at this small airfield – we parked on the ramp directly next to a C-17.
