Alexandria Regional
Best regional airport I have flown into in a long time. Final destination was Natchitoches and usually fly in to Shreveport from Colorado. This time however the price was much better for Alexandria out of Dallas on American. The landing was perfect and the new terminal facilities were beautiful. Since it was before last Christmas they had the most beautiful tree in the lobby. We met our children there and didn’t want to leave. It was so nice but when we did the parking lot was only a few steps away. We had to make a bit of trip to get to town but it wasn’t that long and no traffic to speak of. We will always fly there when we make this trip again. This is a closed AFB (England AFB) that the reserves used to fly A-10s over our house out of before we moved to Colorado. The airport authority has done a wonderful renovation job and I applaud them for it.
Nice airport. Staff okay but it takes forever to get your luggage. I fly all over the country and no where takes as long as AEX. There normally is only one flight in at a time, so I can’t imagine what the problem would be. Another passenger joked saying, the pilot have to also unload the bags. Would be a great airport if they could speed up the bag claims process. Currently from leaving the plane it takes on average from 30 to 49 minutes before the beltway starts.
