Liverpool John Lennon Airport Reviews (8)
I have just used John Lennon Airport to travel to Europe and was pleasantly surprised at how modern and spacey it was. Queuing did seem to be an issue in certain areas, but it is part and parcel of travel I believe. The ‘long stay’ parking was so easy to book and use, and the security staff inside the airport were pleasant without being over friendly – after all, they are there to do a job, not engage in conversation. All in all a good experience, I will endeavour to use this airport again.
Good Budget Airport
As to all of the above comments, after having a thoroughly pleasurable experience at Liverpool. I might offer some suggestions to those offering complaints. If you don’t wish to queue then take advantage of the on-line check in that most operators offer here. Otherwise, be prepared to queue, as with any other airport in the world. As for security, this is an airport that is used mainly by budget airlines, and as such, you get what you pay for, in that you may have to queue slightly longer to get through security. If you don’t want to have any issues, take the advice of the airline and arrive a couple of hours before your flight! That way you won’t have the stress of rushing and being stuck in a queue! If you are still not satisfied then pay that bit extra to fly with an airline that flies from Manchester, where there is more money, and thus more facilities. However, you will find that, as in any airport, you will have to queue, and that security will be stony faced, that is their job.
LPL
I used to work at this airport for a while, and I have whole different experience to the ones above. Queues and ‘fast track’ are indeed bad. Regarding security – let’s not forget this is an airport, not a taxi, extra measures must be taken to keep general public safe. That’s why these procedures and devices have been devised in such a way. Security staff are nice… or not. They are there for SECURITY – it is not appropriate to welcome everyone with flowers, while you check their bags for bombs. Getting to and from the airport is a breeze, car parks are close, bus stops just outside terminal building, and short stay car park is big, with space for at least 20 cars, unlike something someone above stated. This is typical: airline passengers get agitated and spread unrealistic opinions, I would treat comments above as such.
LPL
One of the worst airports in Europe. Parking/car rental facilities are terrible. Check in is generally a nightmare. Security is extremely badly run, with very rude unprofessional staff, showing no respect to anyone. Departure area is a complete mess. The entire experience is awful. The whole airport seems designed to simply to suck as much money as possible from those passing through from parking to paying for supposedly ‘faster’ security, to building as many shops as possible instead of seating areas. No though as been given at all to the customer experience of passing through. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
Really Bad Airport
As colleague said above. Queues are very long, security staff is idiotically strict, with little understanding and "just-follow-the-rules" principle. Fast lane is really weird, as you end up in the departure hall with anyone else and you have to wait for your flight anyway. There are no rubbish bins all over the airport! In the centre of the hall there are too many facilities with drinks and food, where you can barely move. But at the end of the hall there is too much space and you feel like in ghost town over there with dim light and quiet air-con in the background. Car park is too expensive! It’s too small and it has only good long-stay spaces. "Pick up" spaces can barely fit 2-3 cars and driving around it is a nightmare. I wish I could fly from somewhere else.
Avoid If At All Possible
Terrible airport, mainly due to abhorrent security staff and measures. Queues are always terribly long, and fast track costs three pounds with only one scanner available, which makes this queue generally not any shorter than the regular ones. Security staff seem to take pleasure from retarding the checking process to a crawl. Patting down without scruples, using their magic wand that seems to go off from any source i.e. buttons, zippers, etc. After you get through all of that, you will have trouble finding the proper gate as signage is terrible, and they seem to be displaying more commercials than actual flight data on the monitors. Architecturally the entire building has the grace of a port-o-potty. If you cannot avoid this airport, be sure to plan in a healthy dose of extra time before checking or between transfers to save your sanity.
OK
Parking very close to airport. Shops and catering facilities limited, especially once you gone through security. Had problems with on-line checking a couple of times when the print off did not scan.
A Small Modern And Kind Airport.
Simple But Perfect. Although Sad That The Flights Towards Toulouse Are Now Defunct, I have had many Memories in this airport.
