A Very Useful Airport
Humberside airport is small with a small check-in area, good restaurant and very small bookshop. However, it is clean and stylish and has car hire and foreign exchange facilities. Car-parking is within walking distance of the terminal. There are several charter flights weekly to the usual European holiday destinations, but Humberside’s lifeline is the KLM service to Amsterdam which departs several times a day. From here passengers can travel worldwide, and long-haul flights via Schiphol account for much of the airport’s business. Passengers who use Humberside find it a relaxed, altogether more pleasant experience than the larger, busier airports.
I used HUY for the first time a couple of weeks ago, after moving to work there from the Isle of Man. I found it very easy, friendly and efficient. the departure area was clean and the coffee palatable. Returning on the late KLM flight from AMS was interesting as the sniffer dog was present and what appeared to be an inordinate amount of officials. However, transit through immigration was quick, my bag arrived swiftly and the whole experience was acceptable.
