Formerly known as Belfast City Airport, George Best Belfast City Airport is a single runway airport that was requisitioned by the Royal Navy during the Second World War, and was renamed in 2006 in memory of the famous footballer from Belfast George Best. The airport is a major base for Flybe, which has become the largest operator at Belfast City operating mainly domestic flights.
Despite the fact the airport is within a short distance from the city centre (around 10 to 15 minutes drive from the terminal building during peak commuter times), the airport passenger number has decreased from 2.7 million in 2010 to 2.2 million in 2012.
The airport has one terminal building, and some conveniently situated short stay and long stay car parking facilities. Belfast City airport parking can be compared and booked via Airport Parking Shop.

Rip-Off
Parking at this airport for its size is the BIGGEST RIP-OFF going. Just because there is no near-by competition doesn’t mean you rip off your customers. Use Belfast international if you can, parking can be had for £3.00 a day.

Worst Airport I have been to. Gates badly posted. Seating very uncomfortable. Parking very expensive. Absolutely no advantage to Belfast International Airport.
Parking Facilities
Seriously inadequate and overpriced parking facilities in the airport. Inadequate pickup facilities unless you are prepared to pay through the nose.
Set Down And Pick Up
After using this airport Thursday 22nd Nov 2007, I note that Access to the Main Entrance and Exit is blocked. Anyone wishing to be picked up by a friend or relative must walk to the car park.
Belfast City
A nice, easy to use facility. Easy to get into and out of. Parking as usual requires you to take out a second mortgage. Nice clean interior with reasonable priced but limited refreshments. Plenty of seating but not very comfortable, you are very close to the planes and the runway is again very close, no 15 minutes journeys to and from the runway. Nice friendly staff. Actually it’s a pleasure to use this airport. Pity its destinations are so limited. Very good, but don’t park there. All airports should be like this.
Short stay FREE 10 Minutes – Usain Bolt could not get to the terminal and back to the stupid automatic ticked thief in 10 minutes. IT’S A RIP OFF. Don’t talk about local hoods who don’t seem to care about society; they simply copy what they see in our so called big society.
