I was made welcome
Awful
If the rutted and potholed track to reach El Borma isn’t bad enough, you will be greeted by a sand storm. In 5 visits in the last 6 years for the Dakar and Tunisia rallies, we have had at least 4 sand storms….. a dreadful place when the wind blows…..
I was there for half an hour in January this year (2013). I was thrilled. I was guest of the company chartering the Tunisair Express Plane, (ATR-72) taking the oil workers to the site.
The airfield – in the desert – was small but everyone was friendly. I was made WELCOME. Yes, there was security but it was quick, polite and friendly. The views from the plane both flying in and out of the airfield were great. It was “flying” as it used to be in the l950s and 60’s. I hope that I might be invited again.
