Saratov Airport With Saravia
Saratov Airport
I have flown to and from Saratov Airport 14 times from 2002 to 2005. The airport is very basic and has no facilities. The entrance out of the airport is via a passage between 2 buildings were taxi drivers are waiting. Baggage checks on flights to Moscow are very strict but with no English.
Saratov Airport is a typical regional Russian airport – just one departure area, one arrivals area and no shopping (Business Class is a bit better, but only just). The only airline to operate from there is Saravia. On a nice day, the approach to Saratov is lovely – over the Volga, see the city and the city of Engels on the other side – then fly between the buildings to land. It is basic, but it does what you want: you get on a plane and go places… no fuss or gimmicks, but the security is still nice and tight.
