Kuching International Airport Reviews (10)
Arrived today to find the lock on our suitcase broken, the strap removed and our effects gone through. Nothing in the luggage was valuable but we were horrified. This is the first time in 40 years of travel that this has ever happened. Such a shame when this has always seemed such an honest and welcoming country.
I thought I was the only one who got stuff used and lost in my luggage. This is so bad and I am really upset!
Someone Went Through My Checked-in Luggage
I was back from Kuching yesterday and realised someone actually broke my luggage lock and went through my stuff in my luggage! All my inner zips have been unzipped and my luggage is in a mess! I was very upset and angry that such incident happened in Kuching International Airport. Fortunately I did not lost anything, but to trust the security of the airport is a bif "NO". How can we entrust our checked-in luggage to such a insecure system. As a Malaysian, I really felt ashamed of what did happened yesterday. I will write in to related authority to look into this issue.
No Security Problems
I visited Kuching Airport with my family in June 2009 and experienced no problems. Frank Lu’s review from 2006 worried me, unnecessarily as things turned out. A modern and safe airport to visit.
Great Improvement
The upgrade of KIA was long overdue and the end result has brought Kuching into the 21st century. Well done Mr Ting but please fix the slippery tiles!! The only other improvement could be to train the MAS ground staff to be a bit more friendly and understand what customer relations is all about.
Slow Fdis
The flight information display system is rather slowly updated. I missed a flight once because the FDIS monitor near me didn’t show "CALLING" or "BOARDING" for my flight.
Nice Airport
The airport’s renovation and upgrading work just finished 2 weeks ago. Luggage handling and other sanitary problems have been solved. Thanks to the effort from airport staff. I’m the resident of Kuching City.
Beware
Some baggage handlers at Kuching International Airport are thieves. Every single time when we transited at this airport, our check-in luggages were broken into, apart from dirty laundry and old cloth, you should expect a lot of other goods stolen, be it valuable or not. It’s going through major renovation at this moment and it’s chaos and confusion at departure point.
Kuching Airport Departure Hall
Nice small Airport, but currently under construction in parts.
Changed greatly for the worse.
International passengers departing beware; there are no accessible toilets in the waiting rooms and once pass immigration, there are no food or other outlets. You will need to exit if you need food or a toilet.
Domestic passengers are better off having access to both toilets and food/shopping outlets.
