Gallery and Facts
Due to the growing importance of aviation, in 1924 the States of Jersey bought a private field towards the west of the Jersey Island, the largest of the Channel Islands, and built the Jersey Airport. The airport was officially opened on 10th March 1937 at a total cost of £127,000.
Thanks to its tourist appeal; close to France but English speaking, Jersey Airport now receives many visitors every year, having handled almost 1.5 million passengers in 2012. Furthermore, the airport is home to the Jersey Aero Club, where many pilots have obtained their licenses and it is also home to the air show Jersey International Air Display that takes place every year.
