Orio Al Serio Airport
Orio Al Serio BGY
Small airport but extremely fast and efficient. Limited shops, but if you have some time to spend there’s a huge department store (Orio Center), walk-linked (100m) to the airport.

Too small for the number of flights / passengers. Thus it is overcrowded and not much fun.
Orio Al Serio Airport
Awful airport – small and dingy with insufficient short-stay parking. For long stays, it’s best to leave your car at one of the nearby private car parks that run a shuttle service to and from the airport. Airport staff and security are rude and unfriendly and charter-flight passengers have to queue in a sort of shed across the road from the terminal before checking in! Duty-free shopping is extremely limited and there’s little choice in the way of meals/refreshments. Very limited space in departure lounge. Also, too far away from Milan, despite being listed as one of the city’s airports.
From the outset very disappointed in this airport and its attitude towards travellers. We decided to hire a car and opted for Hertz so after making quite a quick journey through passport control (rude), and having just hand luggage the hour long wait while the staff try to pressure sell ‘increased insurance cover’, or upgraded hire cars to all, is not appreciated. Be careful returning the hire car as the direction signs are small and it is very possible to get lost. On departing, the tiny duty free shop with very little choice is strangely located after security checking but before passport checking in a small area so if you were expecting to spend some time in the departure lounge shopping forget it! I think livestock would be treated and moved around the place better, as it was we ended up in a departure lounge that indeed resembled a cattle shed! With only a very small kiosk for drinks etc with only one person serving. The airport staff were very ignorant and abrupt, you have to get buses (cattle trucks) to the aircraft. We were travelling with Ryanair but I guess you get what you pay for with them. Italy is beautiful (we stayed by lake Como), Milan is magnificent but the welcome or thanks for visiting us, forget it. Rude!.
