Simply The Best!
Having travelled the world on business (and some pleasure!), Ireland West Airport Knock has to be one of the friendliest and most efficient airports I have been through. Good facilities throughout. It was quick to get through the usual formalities and on to the flights…(waiting around airports is not my favourite pastime really!) Shows up many larger airports in my opinion and a fantastic asset for the West and for Ireland as a whole.
Upon Arrival
We were somewhat taken aback when proceeding through to departures we had to pay a development tax of 10 euros each. What’s this for? I gather it was compulsory. Apart from that Knock airport is a small and friendly airport and a lot going for it.
Knock Is Quite A Little Airport!
I gave it 4 stars for an airport of its size and capacity!! I live in the west of Ireland, and having Ireland West Airport is a huge asset to the region as a whole. I must admit, it is very small but this airport has a lot to offer. It has eight (8) scheduled flights within Ireland and the U.K, Aer Arann to Dublin (was Loganair), London Stansted with Ryanair, London Gatwick with both Ryanair and Easyjet, London Luton with Ryanair and Birmingham, Manchester and Durham Tees Valley with BMI Baby! During the summer months, the airport gets extremely busy with charter flights dominating the traffic through the airport; Ireland West Airport provides routes to Palma, Malaga, Faro, Reus, Lanzarote to name but a few. The passanger traffic through the airport has shot up in recent years, the airport has new facilities such as new check-in desks, departure lounge, arrivals hall, car park and recently brand new fire and safety equipment. The airport will be expanding even more in years to come with new aircraft parking stands. The runway at Ireland West airport is capable of handling wide bodied intercontinental aircraft rather than the 737’s, A319’s and ATR’s that it normally receives!
Knock airport is a small friendly place to go but no information on the departure tax either by our tour operator or our tour guide; only until after we checked in to depart. I would go back to Knock airport.
