We hope to see the runway extension works completed as soon as possible by government officials and have more international flights from Gulf, Far East, Europe and the US for the betterment of the region’s business community and people of Coimbatore.
No Parking Fee For Pickup/Dropoff At CBE
There is no need to pay parking fees for pickup or drop-off at Coimbatore airport. According to the airport authority (pgo-cbe@AAI.AERO): "all departing passengers who are dropping off at this airport are not to pay parking fees. Parking fees is not chargeable for drop off time up to 7 minutes within the in-gate and out-gate. In this regard, two boards are conspicuously displayed, one at the departure area and the other near the arrival area. In case any deviation is noted the same may be brought to the notice of this office for suitable action.". This is as of June 26, 2013. I myself was dropped off at CBE airport on June 1st, 2013, and had to pay the fee. If the system of collecting fees persists, please post here, and inform pgo-cbe@aai.aero as well.
Fee For Drop-Off
The first airport I have come across with the stupidity of collecting of parking fee for getting dropped off. When you raise any objections, you will be forced to pay the parking fee (two or three people surround you) and thereafter you are free to launch the complaint either with local police or airport management. The airport managers are least bothered to rectify the system as political influence is involved. Better use Kochi Airport than Coimbatore Airport.
Fee For Drop And Go? Ridiculous!
The airport management need to look at the fact that, people driving in to drop the passengers do not have to pay a parking fee! The current approach is plainly RIDICULOUS! If you intend to have a revenue stream, you figure out the charges through the parking lessee agent as to what is viable and what is not, at the same time have to regulate the lessee’s actions. The agent that gets the bid for parking management cannot impose his own rules that he wishes to, and rip customers (say for instance, anybody that drives by that street!). Rather the airport management has to regulate the agents to provide convenient and reasonable fees for the passengers. Since the CJB Airport management did not keep the lessee in the leash, I am giving 1 star. If I had an option for ‘Zero’ star, I would have given it, instead.
Good And Clean Airport
I’ve been using this airport for the past five years. The passenger traffic has really gone up in the last two years. I would say CJB will grow much faster once the runway length has increased to the fuller capacity. My dream is all international flights should take off from Coimbatore like Chennai and flights like A380 will land at the CJB in the years to come.
Coimbatore Airport Upgrades On The Way!
Coimbatore, one of the high earning airports among Tier II cities. Now it’s all set to expand for international movement expansion. You have Silk Airlines to Singapore and Air Arabia flying to Sharjah. Recently IBM, CTS, Robert Bosch and more companies have began their operations in Coimbatore. Soon direct flights are expected to connect Dubai, Malaysia which would provide Coimbatore connectivity to US and Europe.
Car Parking Fee
Why do they charge for cars which are coming just for dropping and picking? I believe it’s only a Car Parking Fee and not a toll fee for cars entering the airport that is to be charged. The ONLY PLACE IN THE WORLD where fee is charged for dropping and picking your friends and relatives. The authorities are doing absolutely NOTHING.
About The Airport (complaint)
I like the airport but they are not maintaining the airport properly: toilets, the inside of the airport, runway parking etc. They are not maintaining it well. But they can make this airport an international airport like other big airports.
Parking Problem
There is no facility for dropping and picking up of passengers without paying the parking fees. As soon as you enter the airport with your vehicle, you are forced to pay the parking fee of Rs.60 even if you don’t park your car. This is really cheating and looting the passengers.

Hope There Are More International Flights Soon
Hope there will be more international flights to Coimbatore soon. Also, hope there is better Public transport connecting Ukkadam to the airport via the railway station and Gandhipuram. The runway has been expanded. Nice pictures Sujith. Would love to see pictures of the international flights at Coimbatore, too (especially Silk Air). Do you have any? It must have been a relief getting off at Coimbatore rather than Chennai for Mr Balachandran. Im booking direct to Coimbatore, too.
Very Clean, Quick And Less Crowded.
I’ve been using Coimbatore airport for 8 years now and it is one of the cleanest airports in India. Not sure if they can maintain if the traffic increases. From the flight to exit door takes only about 10/15 minutes even if you have checked-in baggage. I’m flying with Silkair soon to CJB direct and I can already feel my whole trip to be less stressful as I can land 30 minutes from home rather than the dirty/crowded Chennai.
Coimbatore Airport Registers Record Growth In Traffic
As per the latest figures published by the Traffic Reporter, an information magazine published by the Department of Corporate Planning and Management Services of the Airports Authority of India, the Coimbatore Airport has recorded the maximum growth (a growth of 50.4 per cent and 48.6 per cent respectively in domestic aircraft and passenger movement, compared to the previous year) for the Year 2004 – 2005.

I used to fly from Chennai for the past 12 years. This year March, I booked up to Coimbatore. It was my first time, using the CJB air-port. It was found to be small but nice and one of the cleanest air-ports I have seen. I wish it to become an international air-port so that many people in western districts would make use of it. Thanks.
