Flights From The UK
Extremely frustrated to learn that there are no direct flights between the UK and Aulnat airport. This leaves a huge gap in the heart of France not served from the UK (except via Paris which is expensive and slow). The nearest airports serving the area are Limoges (2.5 hours drive) or Lyon (3 hours drive).
Living in the Auvergne is wonderful but the frustrations of friends and clients (we run a ‘B & B’ in Olliergues) in trying to get to us are manifold. The latest fiasco concerned a friend of ours who had not travelled by air for 30 years (!!!). Ann should have arrived Wednesday 2nd April but her plane was cancelled from Southampton UK and so she had to stay overnight in Paris thus losing one day of her precious holiday. We could not believe it when on the return journey on Wednesday 9th April, she left Olliergues at 7.30am, caught her flight from Cl.Fd to Paris but then the next plane was cancelled and she eventually arrived back home in Dorset (UK) at 2am on Thursday!!! She could have travelled to NZ in a shorter time!
