Hurghada Airport
Went through Hurghada in January / February 2007. What a difference a year makes. Last year we were herded through a hole in the wall and competed with the Germans for space in the passport control queues. Great fun. This year, XL Airways did us proud and landed 15 minutes early. Ushered through the spanking new arrival hall, got the obligatory stamps from the rep in the passport, said Masa Ahrir to the unsmiling passport guy, through the next passport check – nice guy and it wasn’t his birthday – wonderful help from a fluent English speaker, through to the usual throng of card waving guys, arrival voucher presented, onto bus and in El Gouna within the hour. Forget Hurghada – El Gouna is a cut above and where the billionaires go. Enjoy!

We were gladly surprised about the improvement at the airport!! No check-in stress and toilets were really clean. keep it up!
It's an Airport. .
.. where you arrive, do what you have to do and leave. It’s functional, busy and clean. No need for a big analysis..
Improving, Dont Worry
The Hurghada airport has improved a lot lately, as Ms Barbara Nachbagauer has said that it got nicer and is improving. The whole airport is also, yet there are some difficulties; however, they are being solved at the moment due to construction areas and Egyptian laws
It's Just Awesome!!
Hurghada is one of the best Cities in the World. It’s Water is really very very beautiful. I go there twice a year. People are so nice there and welcome all the tourists; you can feel as if you were among your family members. The prices are nice too and not expensive.. I recommend it to all the people who want to enjoy a lovely summer or winter..
Getting Better. . .
Hi there, I just returned 2 days ago from Hurghada. I usually go there twice or three times a year for diving. In the last two years I could experience an improvement of everything in HRG: the town got nicer, they built pedestrian zones, nice restaurants, bars, etc… Really, it´s getting better! I was very surprised when I arrived at HRG airport a week ago and saw that the arrival area where luggage is collected is now almost twice as big as six months ago. The floor is made of marble and the toilets have been enlarged and are CLEAN. What a relief for all ladies :-) Since I have been there so often already I can really say that they make a great effort to improve the facilities and services in town and also at the airport. I am curiously waiting for what will be new the next time I’m there!
Terrible !!
Don’t be at Hurghada Airport on a Thursday – most tourist are coming in, or are leaving Egypt that day. It’s a living hell and if you are a female: Wear an armour ! It’s a struggle for life.
Exchange Rates In The Tax Free Shop
If you are planning to do some Tax Free Shopping in Hurgarda Airport, you should avoid the first Tax Free Shop after Passport control. All their prices are in US $, but if you pay in Euro your get really bad rates. They charged me 100 Eur for a 106 $ spend. When I went back to inform them about their "mistake" they gave me 6 Eur, in a agressive manner. The conclusion must be that the tax free area is like at Middel Eastern market. Make sure that you know the right exchange rates especially for $ and Eur. I suggest that your avoid the first shop at all. There is another right around the corner, where prices are even less expensive.
HRG airport is very small.
