Probably the worst airport in the world and also the national airline which is currently almost in bankruptcy. I can only compare it with any airport in Syria, Yemen or Timbuktu. The service areas are poorly supplied, the AC turned on to a minimum, the restrooms missing basic necessities. The entire staff, including Customs Officials, are rude and intimidating, a reflection of the paranoia of the Cuban ruling system. Not recommended for the frugal world traveler.
Nice, Simple And Clean
Small to medium airport. Nice, simple and clean. Acceptable food and beverage. It took 30 minutes to get in.
Poor And Small Airport
There is only one hall whit one pub and one shop; in the summer it can be very crowded. It is not a nice atmosphere to wait in. On arrival the customs are terrible; it takes at least 2 hours to get in.
Many try to compare the Havana airport with Miami or Mexico but forget that they arrive to a small island in the Caribbean. Others for political reasons call it the worst. The reality is that it is an average airport, neither the best nor the worst Nice clean interiors but don’t expect a chain of stores and pubs.
The staff are very friendly and have what it takes to spend an hour or two until your flight departs.
