Immigration At AXM
Public Transport
If this is your first time here then please note that there are 2 ways to get to the City from AXM. First, it is by taxi and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Taxi drivers don’t accept US Dollars, they only accept Colombian Pesos and every cab has a meter. Second, it is by bus either inter-municipally from Montenegro to Armenia or TINTO red buses which start off at the airport. All rides are one way and the cost is about 1600 to 2000 pesos. Again only Colombian Pesos are accepted. There are no private limo companies based here and so only the wealthy Colombians get picked up in 4X4’s by their relatives. There are van and bus companies which pick up groups from the airport but they are booked in advance. I hope this information is useful and if you need any further information drop me an email.
Clearing customs at AXM: Non-Colombians and Colombians alike wait 1.5 – 3-hours after deplaning to show their documents to Colombian immigration officials. There appears to be NO requirement to open suitcases.
