I was very surprised to see the life saving role "The Frob" has played over the years since I was there (1956.) I was a member of the U.S. Army 823rd Engineers who removed the granite hill from the North end of the runway. We worked 12 hour shifts, seven days a week drilling, blasting and hauling. With the end of The Cold War and the dismantling of the Dew Line, I assumed all of our hard work was for naught.
