The airport has all been upgraded – come take a look and visit the fantastic Whitsundays. Hopefully soon we will have more flights in and out.
It's Disgraceful
The Whitsunday Coast Airport is too far away from any accommodation. After heavy flooding rain, you’re stuck with nowhere to go. Try 24 hours on a plastic seat with no food available. The luggage handling is out of the ark. You have to wait while tractors bring luggage on trolleys, then it’s a bun fight to get your luggage. The doors are left open so the air-conditioning is ineffective. There is insufficient parking and no long term parking. When two planes come in together, there is bedlam because there’s nowhere for people to wait. This airport looks like something out of the 1950’s.

The airport is in the middle of a paddock.
People should realise that this area of the Whitsundays is not a tourist destination and Proserpine is a small town. I love Airlie Beach and the staff at the airport are always friendly and helpful. Sure, it is small and no control tower; therefore no landings/takeoff in bad weather, but it is up for an extension and maybe more airlines? Stop knocking this airport.
