Getting to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport
Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is situated in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, and the most populous city in the state.
Atlanta Airport (ATL) is ideally located to serve as the primary hub for connecting North America to the Southern Hemisphere and the rest of the World. This advantageous positioning has contributed to Atlanta Airport remaining as the busiest airport in the world by passenger numbers, for the 17th consecutive year since 1998, and between 2005 and 2013 it was the worlds busiest for landings and takeoffs.
The fact that Atlanta only has the one main Airport, compared to multiple airports seen in bigger cities such as New York and London, is a major contributing factor to why Atlanta is by far the busiest in the World. The support of global carrier Delta accounts for some of this traffic too, with almost 1,000 flights a day coming from the Delta Airlines Hub operating from the airport.
There are two terminals to Atlanta Airport, one for international flights and the other for domestic flights. To reach either of the terminals from Downtown Atlanta, follow the Interstate 75/85 South, and then follow signs to your appropriate terminal entrance.
Getting around Atlanta
Atlantas public transport system is operated by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). A network of 92 bus routes are linked together with 48 miles of rapid transit rail track and 38 train stations. It is the 8th largest Rapid Transit Authority in America and in 2014, around 440,000 passengers used MARTA.
