Busuanga Airport Under Major Facelift
In order to boost tourism in the Calamian Group of the islands in Northern Palawan, the Philippine Government through the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOCTC) programmed a major facelift of Busuanga airport in Busuanga, Palawan. The entire runway is now under construction, gone are the days of a dusty and stoney runway. Construction of a first class terminal facility is also underway. Few months to wait and a world class runway in Busuanga is operational.
We landed and departed at USU 15 JAN and 20 JAN 07, respectively, from Manila. Airline was Southeast Asia Airline, SEAIR. Security is quite lax – no X-Ray, no Body Pat Down, and the most cursory inspection of carry-ons. Terminal building is modern, clean, and airy. Staff personnel helpful and pleasant. Runway is hybrid – ~300 m of concrete and balance is gravel. Overall, it was a decent experience.
