Worked Okinawa Center and Radar Approach Control (CERAP) 1969-1970. At the time the permier Air Force ATC facility.
Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan
I used to work at Kadena in the ATC Tower. Oh yes, it was busy. The Japanese were great to me. Stationed here from 1997-99. Great place to be. Recommend living off base if possible. Mostly military, once in a while a commercial jet would fly in for people deploying or on leave, etc. Naha is the main airport for commercial aviation on Okinawa, just to the south.
U. S. Military Facility
DNA (Kadena Air Base) is a United States military installation. The air passenger terminal is operated by the U.S. Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) and is not open to the public. Only Department of Defense personnel may access the base and its passenger terminal. Kadena AB is one of the largest U.S. military installations overseas and is one of the nicest assignments airmen can get. Okinawa island is wonderful as well!
